It's no secret that New York City is an epic city to visit. With incredible food and iconic sights from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge and Empire State Building, there is no shortage of activity here and people travel thousands of miles to do just that. It would only make sense, then, that it would be just as romantic a city to travel to to get married in! Such was the case for Sophie and Bosh, who traveled all the way from the UK to elope at NY City Hall this past fall.

Sophie and Bosh are too, iconic. They are creative and kind with a presence that is both calming and illuminating. They know exactly what they want from life, who they are and what they represent - something that is hard to achieve for most - and their approach to their vision for their elopement photos was no different.

I always love when couples come to me with ideas for their session. An eagerness to collaborate and bounce thoughts back and forth is my favorite kind of partnership because it allows me to really get a sense of my couple and their story. Sophie and Bosh's vision blended an editorial, magazine quality aesthetic (wait till you see their chic outfits!) with the feel of a documentary both during their session and reflected in their photos - an effortless, spontaneous and fun vibe that primarily showed off their love. They wanted the city heavily featured and came to me with such fun desires, like taking photos with a yellow taxi and drinking coffee at a local shop.

We had a couple zoom chats, which is an important part of my process for us both to learn each other and to ensure that I understand and accurately represent their personalities in their photos. Sophie shared some image inspiration with me as well and I got to work outlining a few timeline options with different locations around the city to choose from. They settled on a three hour session that would encompass their City Hall ceremony, an exit with confetti and photos nearby, followed by visits to both Grand Central Station and Central Park.

The day of their wedding was a very busy at City Hall, but Sophie and Bosh took the day in stride. They wanted their elopement to feel as relaxed as could be so we relished some extra time to play with both candid and posed shots, chatting and laughing and getting to know each other as our time together went on.

I couldn't be happier with how their session went, how much life and energy they breathed into it and love they poured into each other. I am so excited for their future and so grateful they brought me along for the ride!
