While I love New York City and the plethora of options and backdrops it has to offer couples, sometimes, you just want to do a session at home! And why wouldn't you? It's cozy, it's relaxed, and it's the place where you're building your life together. Plus, no commute!
So when Kristin and Ngoni and I started discussing ideas for their photoshoot, I was thrilled that they wanted to do it at home. (Side bar: their story is adorable actually: they met because they were neighbors in the same building!! I mean, is that a meet-cute or what? And the most ideal situation for a New Yorker - who has time to sift through apps anymore, amirite?) I digress...
The thing I love about Kristin and Ngoni (apart from their IMPECCABLE sense of fashion and taste) is how effortless they are with each other. They pick up on each other's cues, are silly and giggly all the time and just really, really love each other so wholly. It's a romance that just feels so right.
The overall theme for the engagement shoot was a 'casual Sunday morning at home'. To achieve this, we mapped out what their morning usually looks like, and then decided to just document them as they went about their day!
We started with a little morning coffee in bed...
And then moved to the kitchen for an impromptu dance session! (They love music and had a playlist ready!)
After dancing was a snack of cold pizza (it's Sunday morning, after all!) and some sweet cuddles on the couch. Doesn't their apartment look like an ad in Architectural Digest?! Kristin is a design genius.
Lastly, they helped each other get ready (presumably for brunch) and we took some photos outside of their apartment building for nostalgia! See below for the whole album!
