This year I started exploring the world of graduations, proms and senior photos. I love any chance to celebrate so all of these shoots were a fun addition to the world of celebrating I already get to do regularly with my wedding couples and families. And, for grads right now, their celebration is even more special after two years of a pandemic.
One photoshoot in particular felt incredibly special. Joelle and Noelle are best friends who spent the majority of their law school career taking their classes online instead of in person. When it came time to graduate, they wanted a shoot that showed off their achievement in the city where they'd worked so hard - and especially because they didn't get to experience law school in the city as they normally would have.
After discussing a number of location options, we settled on the steps of the historic New York Public Library in Manhattan. The ladies wanted a marble backdrop and came prepared with great ideas - including stacking their law school books to stand on and lean against - a sign of their conquering this chapter of their lives. We stacked A LOT of books - they came prepared with a full suitcase filled with them!
Making the day even sweeter, Noelle extended the session to include her mom and sister who were also graduating with advanced post-grad degrees from other schools. Watching these four in their extra fancy caps and robes, celebrating these huge milestones, I couldn't help but hope all the wisdom I was surrounded by would rub off on me! Congrats - now go take on the world!
